The Brewster Ice
Arena, named one of the New York Rangers' Premier Partner rinks, is a
proud participant in the Future Rangers developmental hockey program.
This program is designed for boys
& girls, aged 4-12, who are beginners to the sport of hockey. The
class stresses basic fundamental skating and hockey skills needed to
succeed in the game.
As of the 2017-18 season, Future Rangers has been integrated into our Learn To Skate curriculum.
Step 1: Learn to Skate
- Learn the basic skills required to skate
- Create and refine basic motor patterns
- Focus on basic skating skills; starting, stopping, turning and balance.
Step 2: Learn to Play Hockey
- Learn the basic skills required to skate and play the game of hockey
- Develop an understanding of basic teamwork and game concepts
- Have fun while playing hockey and engaging in physical activity
- Be introduced to the core values of cooperation, fair play, and sportsmanship
- Focus on basic hockey skills; skating, puck handling, passing and shooting.
Participants Receive
- Expert instruction from our coaching staff that has been trained by the New York Rangers organization
- An official Future Rangers jersey
- A certificate of achievement at the conclusion of the program
